Andrea Grassi
Born in Mass Carrara, Italy, sculptor Andrea Grassi (b. 1938) started carving marble from the nearby quarries at an early age. He graduated from the Accademia di Belle Arti in Carrara in 1964 and the Acadamie des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1967. His work is included in the collections of the Musee d’Art Moderna in Paris, the Roswell Museum and Art Center, New Mexico, the Musee de Cholett in Cholot, France, and the Museo dei Bozzetti in Pietrasanta, Italy. In 1995 Andrea received the Premio Culturale Nazionale per la Scultura Torre di Castruccio Award in Carrara, Italy. He has had over twenty-five solo exhibitions in Italy, France, Denmark and Portugal and in New York, New Mexico and Florida in the United States and has contributed to about one hundred group exhibitions around the world.
