Not Your Average Knot!
Christy Georg's (RAiR 2005-06) Giant Monkey Fist sculpture has made its way from the Maine Maritime Museum to AMoCA! The 42” diameter knot, made of quite impressive 3” manila rope has a long tail that gradually long-splices down from 3” to 1/4” and is coiled on its own pedestal. At the Maritime Museum the sculpture hung from the ceiling for a while where a few couples even "tied the knot" underneath it. Weighing in at more than 350 pounds, Giant Monkey Fist is on loan from Santa Fe-based Georg. Thanks to Christy for making the time and effort to re-fluff and deliver the fist! You can purchase her miniature monkey fist ornaments and earrings in the AMoCA gift shop and at the RAiR on-line gift shop.

AMoCA Happenings - This past month AMoCA's galleries became enlivened with music, first with the Roswell Kiwanis Club's fundraiser for an all-inclusive park which featured Deb DeLucca performing a tribute to Carole King , and this past Saturday with Dr. Wataru Niimori playing traditional Christmas music in his Dr. Wat way - i.e., with a lot of jazz and pizzazz.
Right: Dr. Wat and wife Melinda after his Christmas concert.
