Gallery Talk, Roswell Museum Saturday, April 23, 4-5 pm
Futurism, Sci-Fi and Alternate Realities of Chicano Culture (Jadira Gurulé’s Fronteras del Futuro and Eric J García’s Space Invaders)
This special gallery talk will take place in the Roswell Museum’s Samuel Marshall & Donald Winston Gallery which currently hosts Eric J. García’s exhibition Space Invaders. García will be joined by Jadira Gurulé, Visual Arts Program Manager of the National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) in Albuquerque, who curated the current NHCC exhibition Fronteras del Futuro: Art in New Mexico and Beyond. García and Gurulé will discuss their respective exhibitions and the thematic overlaps between the two shows, including futurism, science fiction, alternate realities, and how those relate to Chicano culture.
Admittance to this special gallery talk is included in the cost of museum admission. Roswell Museum members and current Roswell Artists-in-Residence receive complimentary admission.
