April - May AMoCA Activities

AMoCA was able to purchase 41 comfortable mesh chairs last year, which were delivered in April and have already been used for four events. A generous local donor has allowed the museum to order 60 more. If all goes well the new chairs will arrive in October. Thank you Dee Redd.

This past month AMoCA hosted: RAiR Artist Kate Turner’s post-exhibition reception dinner, the Leadership Roswell group for a "local arts" presentation, a Roswell Jazz Festival fundraiser, a car dealership awards night, and a luncheon for a RAiR alum’s family. Off-site, AMoCA staff helped judge the Friends of Bitter Lake dragonfly art contest and are crocheting like mad in preparation for the Roswell Museum's upcoming yarn-bomb happening in June.

AMoCA's free May Day piano concert featured Miles Massicotte from Eastern New Mexico University and two of his students and an extraordinary display of skill and beauty, while they performed difficult scores. What a treat for several NMMI students who were able to stroll down the street to the event, some for their first piano concert ever. Many thanks to Miles, Lane, Max, and NMMI faculty member Lindsay Mayo Fincher. Despite the May Day concert postcards getting damaged and not delivered to AMoCA, we garnered a respectable audience.
