“Art is Springing up all Over New Mexico.”

The second annual ART NM! Arts and Culture Day in Roswell,

April 8, 10 am to 1 pm at the Roswell Museum.

ART NM! Arts and Culture Day is a community celebration of the arts and culture, presented by New Mexico’s arts advocacy organization, Creative New Mexico, and hosted by the Roswell Museum during its Second Saturday event.

Creative New Mexico is a non-profit that connects, promotes, and advocates for creative individuals, organizations, industries, and communities statewide. Historically, New Mexico’s creative industries have generated $5.6 billion for the state’s economy. The creative workforce has been larger than construction and manufacturing combined. The ART NM! event is meant to communicate the value of arts and culture in economic development, community renewal, and prosperity. Many of the local arts/culture organizations that contribute to our well-being here in Roswell will be present at the event to showcase their activities.

ART NM! is a family-friendly, free event occurring in six communities throughout the state in April: Artesia, Farmington, Gallup, Rio Rancho, Roswell, and Taos. Individuals can engage in the visual arts, music, and theater and learn about the diverse creative resources that are available in each community. Funding for ART NM! comes, in part, from a grant through New Mexico Arts, a division of the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs. Roswell Museum and Art Center Foundation has generously provided funding for Second Saturday.

The event in Roswell includes the following partners who will provide information about their activities, hands-on art activities for children and adults, and interactive performances:

Anderson Museum of Contemporary Art and Roswell Artist-in-Residence Program; Bone Springs Art Space; Creative New Mexico; Historical Society for Southeast New Mexico; Miniatures and Curious Collections Museum; Pecos Valley Iris Society; Roswell Fine Arts League/The Gallery; Roswell Museum; Roswell Symphony Orchestra; and The Liberty, Inc.
