Guillermo Gómez-Peña Lecture at AMoCA
Guillermo Gómez-Peña came to the Anderson Museum to deliver a presentation for the third consecutive summer. He delivered an illustrated lecture about the first forty years of his career as a performance artist.
In the lecture, Gómez-Peña started with his family’s “vernacular performativity,” going through his semi-voluntary performances during childhood, and then went into his time in art school and his performance art works including Border Walk; Mister Misterio; Border Actions; Tijuana/Niagra; Border Wedding; Border Brujo; The Guatinaui World Tour and many others.
Gómez-Peña has exhibited and performed around the world. He is MacArthur Fellow, a Guggenheim, Bessie and American Book Award recipient and has authored 21 books.
Other May and June Events at AMoCA
Events since May at the Anderson Museum have included an Eastern New Mexico Medical Center leadership training conference; more student tours including 163 students in one day (!); the Democratic Party of Chaves County’s post-primary convention, and the Roswell Museum Foundation held a catered, intimate museum dinner for a winning fundraiser-bidder and their party.
