Dorota Mytych
Mytych investigates structures (political, social, personal, and organic) and what comprises them. Her work deconstructs these structures and offers alternative perspectives. She is fascinated by how systems form and how they are interrupted, changed, and dissolved, exposing their frailty and ephemerality.
Dorota Mytych was born in Elblag, Poland, and lives and works between Australia and Poland. In 1996 she received her Diploma of Fine Arts from the Art Institute Lorenzo di Medici in Florence, Italy as well as an Honours Degree of Fine Arts Painting from the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence, Italy. Before this, she studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti Sassari in Sardinia, Italy.
Mytych has exhibited widely internationally and is the recipient of several prestigious national and international art prizes and residencies.

Nothing is fixed or permanent, as we would sometimes like it to be. With that in mind, this exhibition is a response to my surroundings — interactions with people, animals, plants, and the land. I gather these elements together on the same surface, building a bigger picture where everything happens at the same time, much as in life. Contained in the works are marks, scribbles, figures, colors and situations that exist together, all different in nature, but in relation to one another. The work is as much a process as it is a result of a process. Here process and result conversation, are both visible and hold equal importance.
