Frank McCulloch

Painter, folk singer and guitarist Frank McCulloch (b. 1930) was born in Gallup, New Mexico. He attained his BA in Biology in 1953 at the University of New Mexico and a MA in Biology in 1955 at the New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Then he studied art to earn a MFA at the Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende in Mexico. Frank received numerous awards, including the New Mexico Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts and the Albuquerque Arts Alliance Bravo Award.  His work is in the collection of the Albuquerque Museum. Frank has taught at Princeton University, the University of New Mexico and New Mexico Highlands University, and retired in 1985 from the Albuquerque Public Schools. He has had more than 40 solo exhibitions in the United States, Mexico and Italy. The Burris Hall Gallery at New Mexico Highlands University held a retrospective exhibition of Frank’s work in 2015.
