Geraldo “Jerry” Kirwin

Geraldo L. McIntyre Kirwin (1932-2017), known as “Jerry”, was born in Rhode Island but was drawn to the southwest early in life. In 1956 he attended the Esmeralda School of Painting and Sculpture in Mexico City and a decade later became one of RAiR’s first artists in residence. After participating in the RAiR Program in 1967, Jerry stayed in Roswell working for the Community Action Program and later moved to western New Mexico. He made sculptures in wood, stone, metal, ceramic and bronze as well as paintings. The Roswell Museum and Art Center hosted a solo show of his bronzes in 1993. A retrospective of his work took place at Warehouse 1-10 in Magdalena, New Mexico, in 2014.
