Hajime Mizutani | Tokyo, Japan
Hajime Mizutani invents environments that are at once delicate and massive. He uses a simple process to create them, shaping paper by crumpling and folding it, then drawing on it with charcoal. Repeating this hundreds of times over, he transforms entire walls and rooms into magnificent spaces that evoke by turns a rolling ocean or a rock-face shaped by water and wind.
"I believe that the impulse to create is the great energy that shapes mankind." Hajime Mizutani
