Maria Rucker

Born and educated in Munich, Germany, sculptor Maria Rucker studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich and at the Athens School of Fine Arts in Greece. She discovered her passion for stone in Carrara, Italy, where she still works. She has attended symposia in Germany, Italy, Austria, Slovakia, Belgium, Luxembourg and Taiwan. She has had residencies at the Vermont Studio Center; the Weir Farm Trust in Connecticut; the Bogliasco Foundation in Genoa, Italy; and the Albers Foundation in Bethany, Connecticut. She shows her work internationally and creates outdoor sculptures and public, site-specific work. She has performed experimental music and art with Randolf Pirkmayer since 2007.
