Susan Wink
Sculptor, ceramicist and site installation artist Susan Wink (1957- ) is known for her public art projects, notably “Remembering Roswell” for the City of Roswell, New Mexico (2010-16). Born in Detroit, Michigan, Susan graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1979 from Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo and with a MFA in 1983 from Indiana University, Bloomington. She was the art faculty director of the ceramic program at Central Michigan University from 1985 to 1996. In 1996, Sue accepted a Roswell Artist-in-Residence grant and commission to construct a community-based public artwork for the City of Roswell. Finding sculptural work rewarding and the land enchanting, Sue lived in New Mexico for 20 years, developing a successful track record of public art projects throughout the region. In 2007 Susan won the Amigo Award for Camino Alire Bridge Design, Santa Fe, and between 2013-2016 she co-directed the Anderson Museum of Contemporary Art in Roswell. In addition to 22 public art commissions between 1994 and 2016, Susan contributed to about fifty exhibitions and outdoor site sculptures, the latest being at the Muskegon Museum of Art, Michigan in 2019.
