RAiR Exhibition — Eríc J. Garcia at Roswell Museum
Space Invaders
Roswell Artist-in-Residence exhibition
March 12 - April 24, 2022
🔹Opening Reception: March 11, 6-7 pm
In 1492, the indigenous peoples of what is now known as the Bahamas made a huge discovery: three alien ships had been spotted off the shores of their island. ALIENS HAD LANDED! This exhibition examines the evidence of these alien encounters and the frightening effects these invaders of space had on the people of this world.
Eric J. García uses history and a graphic style to create political art that confronts our understanding of the present. Using printmaking, drawing, and installation combined with materials specific to the project, he aims to educate and challenge. He received his BFA with a minor in Chicano studies from the University of New Mexico, and earned his MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. García is a teaching artist, a core member of the printmaking collective, Instituto Gráfico de Chicago and one of the newest members of the Justseeds Print Cooperative. García has exhibited nationally and can be found in the collections of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the National Hispanic Cultural Center, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Library of Congress.
The artist lecture will be broadcast live March 11, 5:30 PM from the Roswell Museum's Facebook page.
